We Live in a World of Contradictions

The Bible gives a mandate to Believers, “If someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it.” 1 Peter 3:15.

As Christian followers of Jesus Christ, it is important to develop a critical thinking ability. Critical thinking is the systematic evaluation of information to make reasoned judgments.

When Jesus was confronted with questions, He amazed those around Him, Luke 20:26. Paul the Apostle was trained by one of the renown thinkers of the time, Gamaliel, Acts 22:3. Paul upon his conversion to Jesus Christ, used his skills for God’s glory, Acts 17:16-34, Romans 6:19-23, 1 Corinthians 15:1-20.

Even as believers give arguments or answers that are not always perfectly put together, we have the fact that the Evidence, Truth and, Holy Spirit is working through us!

This Episode is a discussion of putting together good sound reasons to believe and helping people put together a sound argument, and also discerning a false or unsound assertion. Have you seen sound and unsound assertions on the News?

The Bible in Isaiah 5:20 states that, “They say what is right is wrong and what is wrong is right.” Do we find right and wrong confused in our society? What are some examples of this verse from Isaiah we find in our world?

Through much of Western history three sources of thought have guided many. Look up and discuss the following (replay those parts of the film if needed): 1) Induction 2) Deduction 3) Revelation

What other tools for good reasoning are mentioned in the film?

What is a fallacy?

Give some reasons why you believe in Jesus Christ or why some people are unsure of faith in Christ?

The Revelation of scripture and human experience tells us the human race is very confused. Running from God is what the majority of people do and they give poorly thought-out reasons. Read and reflect on human confusion and the answer to the conditions, Romans 3:9-19, 3:23-26. Jesus is the great light that shines for us to see the true reality of life, Luke 1:78-79. How do you see the true reality of Plato’s Cave compared to the Christian conversion of seeing the world in a totally different way?

In other classics like John Bunyon, Pilgrim’s Progress, Christian was fleeing the city of destruction, with a heavy burden on his back toward Calvary then on to the Celestial City. What does all this mean in the Classic Allegory?

My prayer is we will find new and cogent ways to effectively answer the world’s objections to Christ, the Center and Source of life and truth. Give an example of how you would share reasons to believe in Jesus.
