The Bible is More Than a Book

Watch the entire Episode 6 and make some mental notes. The Episode is about the uniqueness of the Bible. Christians view the Bible as God’s very Word to humanity. Look up these Bible passages, Matthew 4:4, Psalm 40:7, Ephesians 6:17, 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

The Bible is the most studied book of all time. It is critical that the believer reads and studies the Bible and processes sermons from God’s Word.

Our greatness as a Nation and blessings as an individual are based on our faithfulness to God’s Word.

The more you prayerfully ponder and reflect on God’s Word you realize its supernatural quality.

“All scripture is inspired by God and is to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right, God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

What do these passages tell you about the Bible?

When Jesus was tempted by the devil Jesus answered Satan who misused the Bible with a correct understanding of God’s word Matthew 4: 1-11. How important is the Bible to followers of Jesus?

Can you think of examples?

When the Old Testament teaches in the Mosaic Law that we should not eat pork or wear clothing with mixed fabric, do those rules apply to Believers of the New Covenant? No, Jesus fulfilled those laws, Matthew 5:17, Mark 7:14-15, Acts 10:9-16, Mark 2:27-28. An important principle in interpreting the Bible is that if a commandment from Mosaic Law is not repeated in the New Testament that regulation or law is not for Believers of the New Testament or New Covenant. Can you give examples?

When analyzing the New Testament we have incredible evidence of reliability. What does the Dead Sea Scrolls teach us about the transmission of the accuracy of the Bible?

Why does the Bible stand far above any ancient literature as being accurate and reliable?

Why would F.F. Bruce say: “If the New Testaments were a collection of secular writings, their authenticity would be regarded as beyond all doubt.” F. F. Bruce, Professor of Manchester University, England. What did you think about the Richardsons and the Saur tribe?
